How I Embrace My Natural – Belleza Latina

This post is part of a sponsored campaign on behalf of Latina Bloggers Connect and the makers of ZYRTEC®

This summer has been atypical – rain, humidity and traveling to different places for events make a bad combination to trigger my allergies, which have usually calmed down in the summer time! Guess what? I have faced red watery eyes, so I have looked for my own ways to keep my belleza latina by:

  1. Drinking plenty of water.  Also eating some of my favorite foods which will not compromise my look or worsen my allergies, such as  almonds, walnuts, cashews, broccoli,  tomatoes and spinach!
  2. For the redness, I use cold bags or make up (concealers)  until my skin appearance improves.
  3. I’ve also learned that sleeping well, after taking my allergy medicine, always helped improve my skin condition.

All that has been working until I have found out that, the makers of ZYRTEC® have partnered with beauty and fashion expert, Carmen Ordoñez from VivaFashionBlog.com, to help women combat ALLERGY FACE™ – beauty challenges like a puffy face, watery eyes and a red nose that are associated with typical allergy symptoms. In “Embracing Your Natural Belleza Latina,” Carmen shares simple beauty tips to help women look naturally bella when tackling ALLERGY FACE™, including:

  • How to Combat a Puffy Face: Drink plenty of water each day to help keep your skin hydrated.
  • How to Combat a Puffy Face: Also, to reduce the appearance of a puffy face, rub an ice cube over your face beore applying your makeup.
  • How to Reduce the Appearance of Watery Eyes: Apply navy blue or cobalt mascara to help the whites of your eyes appear brighter.
  • Less is more! Don’t overdo it with too much makeup.

I wanted to share the video with you:

Some other useful tips from Carmen include:

  • Eyes: Use an eyelash curler before applying mascara to help “wake up” your ALLERGY FACE™. Using a curler will make your eyes look wide open, so you look fresh and awake.
  • Nose: If your nose is irritated and dry, avoid putting on foundation, which can look caked on. Instead apply a rich moisturizer and let it dry.
  • Face: To help reduce the appearance of ALLERGY FACE™, place a cold damp cloth on your face for 10 minutes.

Back To School With Kleenex

*

This sponsored post was written by me in collaboration with Latina Bloggers Connect and Kleenex, however all opinions are my own.

Back to School is a time to look for deals, to check out the newest styles, find the supplies that my son will think are cool! He’s growing and we now make it a fun time and shop together! He gets to choose his colors and some of the supplies like backpack, lunch bag and pencil box. The picture below reflects some of his choices!

Keeping that in mind, this past week, I went online and checked most stores to find deals and styles that matched my son’s idea of cool supplies! He attends a Private  School, so he wears a uniform and dress shoes – no need to worry about clothing. The parents are required to donate some classroom supplies and I’m happy to be able to contribute to it!

After online “Shop-hopping”, I wanted to share some of our favorites, which pretty much have been a part of his must have list:

Kleenex Back To School

With seasonal colds and my son’s allergies, the Kleenex Pocket Tissues have been on the top of our list. My son brings them in his backpack every day! I also purchased 10 boxes of Kleenex Tissues to donate to his classroom. Kleenex Everyday Tissue with Sneeze Shield is definitely a must-have in the classroom!

One more reason to include Kleenex on our list is that I found out Kleenex is supporting the Back to School Season! Kleenex brand, America’s softest tissue, promotes healthy kids and continues its tradition of leadership through innovation.

This year, Kleenex brand and Box Tops for Education are working together to share tips for the Back to School season. Each Box Tops coupon – found on more than 240 participating products – is worth 10 cents for your school, making Box Tops an easy way for your school to earn money for the things they need, like Kleenex Everyday Tissue with Sneeze Shield!

To date, the Kleenex brand has donated $13 million to Box Tops for Education! Isn’t that amazing?

I’ve shared my top items and I would love to know what is on your Back to School List? Share your list and tell us why Kleenex Brands should be included in the classroom.

Why I No Longer Have To Live With An ALLERGYFACE™

My Journey:

From This … To That

This post is part of a sponsored campaign on behalf of Latina Bloggers Connect and the makers of ZYRTEC®

Since the age of 3, I have been suffering from allergies, red nose, sniffing, sinus infections, coughing, you name it! When you are not feeling well inside or outside, it is hard to feel beautiful! Especially because, in my case, I have to live with allergies as a part of my daily life!

When I moved to the US, I acquired different types of nasal allergies and also found some amazing tools to handle my allergies and keep my face and body feeling great, while having allergies! It made a huge difference and I wanted to share some of it with you!

My allergies are now mostly seasonal. With spring in full swing for most of the country, the warm weather has begun to trigger seasonal allergies, which can affect not only the way I feel, but also how I look.

Well, I recently found out that the makers of ZYRTEC® have partnered with beauty and fashion expert, Carmen Ordoñez, to help women, like me combat “ALLERGY FACE™” – the beauty challenges like a puffy face, watery eyes and a red nose that are associated with typical allergy symptoms. Also according to a recent survey by the makers of ZYRTEC®, 96 percent of women suffering from allergies experience ALLERGY FACE™. Are you saying: “YES! That is me!!”? I was, when I read that!

Then here comes the best part, Chicas! In an effort to help women look their best despite their allergies, the makers of ZYRTEC® have released video one of a three-part, bilingual video series on YouTube.com/Zyrtec, in which Carmen shares her personal beauty tips to take on ALLERGY FACE™ beauty challenges.

See part one, “Tackling ALLERGY FACE™, One Tip at a Time”, With Carmen Ordoñez, below:

Carmen introduces tips I never used to help disguise a red nose, a puffy face and watery eyes.  Her tips include:

  • How to Disguise a Red Nose
  • How to Contour a Puffy Face
  • How to Distract from Watery Eyes

Some of the very helpful things that I have been doing for years and new things I have learned from her are:

  • Nose: To help offset redness around your nose, apply a corrector or primer with a green tint, followed by your foundation.
  • Face: Add a pearly nude eye shadow to the top of your cheekbones to help them stand out. This will help distract from your ALLERGY FACE™ and illuminate your face.
  • Eyes: Draw attention away from puffy eyes by defining your upper lids with a navy liquid liner. Go for a stylish cat eye, which is a favorite among celebrities and has been all over the fashion runways. Start at the inner corner of your eye and create a wing effect once you get to the outer corner of your eye.

Now, I would love to know what YOUR favorite beauty tips are to help combat ALLERGY FACE™ beauty challenges?

Stay tuned for the release of part two and part three of Carmen’s video series, which will be distributed in the summer and fall, respectively. In the meantime, be sure to follow Carmen on Twitter at @VivaFashion and check her blog www.VivaFashionBlog.com for her latest ALLERGY FACE™ tips and tricks.
